John Waterson, ACSW
John is a passionate and dedicated mental health professional with a Master’s of Social Work from California State University, San Bernardino. His graduate thesisfocused on the impact of the Community Resiliency Model (CRM) on K–12 educators, exploring how biologically based wellness skills can support teachers navigating high-stress environments.
John currently is an Associate Social Worker and brings clinical experience working with young adults, middle schoolers, and their families. He is especially skilled in supporting individuals navigating the emotional and physical impacts of trauma and stress.
John’s clinical interests include the somatic effects of trauma, particularly among adults and seniors experiencing physiological symptoms tied to unresolved stress. He is a certified teacher of the Community Resiliency Model and trained in the Trauma Resiliency Model—two innovative, neuroscience-informed approaches developed by the Trauma Resource Institute (TRI). He has supported TRI’s disaster response efforts, including helping to deliver wellness workshops for survivors of recent California wildfires.
A former Division I athlete at The Ohio State University, John brings firsthand insight into the unique pressures faced by student-athletes. He is particularly interested in supporting athletes as they balance the mental demands of academic performance, athletic achievement, and personal development.
John was first introduced to CRM and TRM in 2016, a pivotal experience that ignited his calling to become a mental health therapist. Today, he integrates these models into his work with individuals and communities, fostering healing through nervous system awareness, body-based practices, and compassionate connection.
John lives in Claremont, California, with his family, where he continues to grow his clinical practice and community involvement.
